INTRODUCTION

Ø Global warming is the increase in the
average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation.

Ø Global surface temperature increased

Ø Global warming is now considered most probably to be due to the increases in greenhouse gas emissions and concurrent increases in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations, which have enhanced the Earth's natural greenhouse effect.

Ø GREENHOUSE!!!

Ø Greenhouse gases play an important role in the regulation of the Earth's energy balance. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap infrared heat energy trying to escape back to space.

Ø Natural greenhouse gases include water vapour or moisture,
carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and even ozone, which is more commonly associated with the ozone layer and ultraviolet radiation. The amounts of all these gases in the atmosphere are now being increased as a result of man-made processes, such as fossil fuel.

CAUSE

GREENHOUSE

· Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap infrared heat energy trying to escape back to space.

· Greenhouse gases play an important role in the regulation of the Earth's energy balance.
Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap infrared heat energy trying to escape back to space.

· Natural greenhouse gases include water vapour or moisture,
carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and even ozone, which is more commonly associated with the ozone layer and
ultraviolet radiation.

· Carbon Dioxide from Power Plants.

· Carbon Dioxide Emitted from Cars.

DEFORESTATION

· Deforestation is the second principle cause of atmospheric carbn dioxide. (NASA Web Site)

· Deforestation is responsible for 20-25% of all carbon emissions entering the atmosphere, by the burning and cutting of about 34 million acres of trees each year.

· We are losing millions of acres of rainforests each year, the equivalent in area to the size of Italy. The destroying of tropical forests alone is throwing hundreds of millions of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

· We are also losing temperate forests. The temperate forests of the world account for an absorption rate of 2 billion tons of carbon annually.

TRANSITION
The effects of the global warming on the environment and human life are numerous and varied. This is to important to know the causes of global warming.

EFFECTS

EFFECTS ON HUMAN SETTLEMENTS AND SOCIETY

· For human health – to developing world.

· Malaria, Schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, Dengue, and Japanese encephalitis.

· Biotic effects- scientist International Panel on Climate Change (IPPC). The effects of an ice free-Arctic Ocean will be on climates elsewhere .

· The warming of the Earth will change physical, chemical, and biotic processes locally and globally

EFFECTS ON THE WORLD AND COASTAL ZONES

· IPCC- sea level will rise by between 10 and 30 cm by the year 2030 and by 30 to 100 cm by the end of the next century.

· With the effects of Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets expected to be small over the next century.

· The direct effects- recession of shorelines and wetlands, increase tidal range and estuarine salt front intrusion and an increase in salt water contamination of coastal fresh water acquifer.

SOLUTION

SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE

· Maintains a healthy planet

· We should try to cut down on our demand for electricity- save money, breathe cleaner air and help to reduce the global warming effect.

· Decrease the use of our car or buying a smaller efficient used car..

· Try to follow the following policy of ‘ ..reduce..reuse..and recycle.

CONCLUSION

Details of the global carbon cycle, including the various factors that determine the rate of accumulation of carbon in the atmosphere an imperfectly known.
There many causes and effects of the warming.
There are many of solution to reduce global warming.
